There was a critical moment in my life when I had to decide whether to train as an artist or a teacher - I had done a foundation course at 17 years old specialising in industrial design. I decided to train as a teacher and then worked in teaching for over twenty years.
Eventually I went to art school part time in my forties. I graduated in Fine Art from Sheffield Hallam University in 1999. Now I’m a practising artist and printmaker.
During my degree I specialised in sculpture. I now work mainly in printmaking. I love the immediacy of monoprinting as well as etching and lino printing. I love playing around with colours and work on a variety of surfaces such as graph paper and tissue paper.
My current work is a series of images connected with reducing our carbon footprint and consists of an image of washing in my back garden with a bicycle in front.
